We would like to invite you to our Czech Film Screening<\/b> organised by the Czech Language Club and Velehrad. We will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia. We have chosen a Czech film set in the first half of the 20th century to commemorate the First Republic which was declared on 28th October 1918.<\/p>\n
The screening is on Saturday 27th October at 5.30pm at Velehrad, Barnes<\/strong>. We will be screening a Czech film POST\u0158I\u017dINY<\/strong> (in English known as Cutting it Short) with English subtitles. Post\u0159i\u017einy is a 1980 Czechoslovak comedy directed by Ji\u0159\u00ed Menzel. It is based on the novel Post\u0159i\u017einy by Czech writer Bohumil Hrabal. The story is set in a brewery in a small Czech town. You can watch a trailer here<\/a>.<\/p>\n There will be some refreshments after the screening. The film is set in a brewery therefore we will be serving beer.
