To reserve your free tickets via Eventbrite, please follow this&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.co.uk\/e\/the-czech-connection-tickets-67426355043\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">link<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:center\">During the First World War Tom\u00e1\u0161 Garrigue Masaryk lived in exile in London and used his influence to make the independence of Czechoslovakia a war aim of the British government. &nbsp;He was helped by Edvard Bene\u0161 who did a similar job in Paris, who sometimes visited him in London. &nbsp;Later after the Munich Agreement President Benes came to London in exile, and formed a Government in Exile with Jan Masaryk and others. &nbsp;Working with the British government they once again sought the independence of Czechoslovakia. &nbsp;Neil Rees will tell the social history or these people and how and where they lived and interacted with the English. The talk is illustrated with period photographs. Copies of his book \u201cThe Czech Connection\u201d will be available for preview.&nbsp;<br><br><strong>Neil William Rees (author)<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>Neil Rees is British and lives in Buckinghamshire with his family. In the early 1990s he worked in Plzen in Bohemia where he grew to love all things Czech. &nbsp;He has been researching the British Czechoslovak connections, especially the stories of Tom\u00e1\u0161 Garrigue Masaryk and Edvard Bene\u0161 in Britain during both wars. In his spare time Neil researches local history stories. &nbsp;The result is a book called &#8220;The Czech Connection&#8221;. Neil has also written and contributed to a number of other local history books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>******<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:center\">The presentation will be concluded by a drinks reception in the foyer of the Cinema.
